Matthew Mansell

Matthew Mansell is the Founder of Athlo. Athlo is an app that allows gym-members and class package holders to rent out their membership, earning back on their membership fee or class pack. For those looking to temporarily rent a membership, it provides access to gyms and classes at preferential rates. It also enables gym operators primarily to reduce member churn and improve retention.

Matthew created the app in 2019 when he saw a gap in the market within the Health & Fitness space that could tap into the sharing economy trend. His passion for fitness is seen in his education, where he studied Sport and Exercise Science at both Bath University and then graduating at St Mary’s University London. Combining his studies with an academy position at Bath Rugby Club and then progressing to play professionally in France for a club called Auch in both the ProD2 and then the Top14.

After graduating from St. Mary’s University, he worked in finance. Matthew has launched Athlo initially in the UK, with international expansion in the platform’s future. Today, Athlo has 4.5k pre-registered users, over 80 gyms on the platform with multiple other operators being on-boarded every month.
