Matthew Mattison

A highly trained tattoo artist, Matthew Mattison has traveled around the world creating unique pieces for discerning professionals. Originally from Hawaii, he trained on the Islands for several years and co-owned a tattoo parlor in Waikiki. While there, he learned Polynesian designs, military and tattoo flash, and other techniques from the tattoo artist Wondo. Since 2011, Mattison has served clients in Portland, Oregon, from his own tattoo parlor, the Little Tattoo Shoppe. He has recruited several local artists who complement his skills with strong capabilities in floral designs and Asian artwork, helping the Little Tattoo Shoppe win various local accolades. Working in conjunction with his talented team, Matthew Mattison concentrates the business on decorative artwork, such as portrait and black and gray pieces.

Aside from the Little Tattoo Shoppe, Matthew Mattison travels around the world creating tattoo artwork for a broad range of clients. He particularly enjoys Europe, where he has a strong client base, but his travels have taken as far as Bahrain. Constantly seeking new inspiration for his work, Matthew Mattison draws ideas from renowned artists including Gustav Doré, Alphonse Mucha, Albrecht Dürer, and Salvador Dalí, as well as Japanese television. He often volunteers his artistic abilities to provide face painting during neighborhood block parties. In addition, Mattison has extended aid to victims following Hurricane Katrina and the earthquake in Haiti.

Matthew Mattison spends much of his free time with his wife, whom he has been together with for nearly two decades. A motorcycle enthusiast, he belongs to the motorcycle club Cretins MC and enjoys working on vintage Suzuki models also known as Street Fighters.
