Matthew Muisyo

Matthew Muisyo was born on the 18th of May 1983 in Machakos County in Kenya.

He is a Child of a Deaf Adult (CODA).

He went to Kusyomuomo Primary School and Mumbuni High School for his „O‟ Levels and graduated in 2003.

Mr. Muisyo is Sign Language (KSL) Interpreter. He has worked as a Project Officer and Sign language interpreter with The Nairobi Disables Empowerment Programme (NADEP).

He joined the Co-operative Bank of Kenya in 2010 where he trained in Banking Applications at the Co-operative Bank Management College. He worked as a Cashier in the Bank and also at Co-operative Bank of South Sudan in Juba, South Sudan till December 2013 when he left to pursue the Children of the Deaf Adults Development in Kenya and Africa under the Kenya National Association of the Deaf (KNAD).

His effort among a small team of CODA in Kenya, led to the formation of the CODA Organization in Kenya (CODA-KENYA) which is in the process of Registration under the NGO‟s Coordination Board.

He has also managed to established contacts with CODA in Ghana, Liberia, Zambia, Uganda, Tanzania and South Africa to create awareness about the Children of the Deaf and draw the membership of CODA in Africa.

Today, Matthew is as a founding member of CODA-Kenya, is the organizations first Secretary General.

Matthew is currently engaged in Deaf women Empowerment efforts as well as the Deaf Sports-Deaf Basketball development in Nairobi.
