Matthew Nicklin

I am blessed with an exciting career at one of the best places to work in Southern Illinois. As a Cybersecurity Specialist at Southern Illinois Power Cooperative (SIPC), I spend most days completing the tasks necessary to maintain SCADA system security and NERC CIP compliance. These tasks include, system patching, SIEM administration, firewall configuration, maintaining system baselines, monitoring system logs, educating employees, managing access privileges, exercising incident response, and writing cybersecurity policies. In addition, I manage SQL databases and provide SCADA system support.

Outside of the office, I enjoy giving back to the community by teaching computer programming and internet safety to youth. I also enjoy working on various projects in my home computer lab, flying my drone where I shouldn't, writing code for no reason, and occasionally playing a video game. To fund my expensive hobbies, I provide support and consulting to many small businesses in Southern Illinois.
