Matthew Pon

Hey there! I’m Matt. I’m a student currently enrolled in the University of Guelph for my Biological Science degree. Ultimately one day, I hope to become an optometrist; I still have a long way to go from here!

I am the eldest out of my 2 siblings (a brother and a sister), and I like to think that means I'm the most responsible, but I honestly don't think that's very true. Some of my current interests are video games, guitar, hockey and dogs. 2 months ago, my family added another member to the gang; a golden retriever named Obi. Unfortunately for him and I, I can only visit him whenever I come back to Toronto during the occasional weekend and break. I grew up playing hockey as a kid, but stopped in once I got into University. Although I miss playing the sport, I can still get the rush when I watch the Maple Leafs play.

During the summers, I often like to work as a camp counselor at summer camps. I've worked as a camp counselor for 8 consecutive years, minus the most recent summer where I had another job working at a restaurant. I also like to take summer courses to help free up my schedule during the school year.

I'm certain that picking my program was the right choice for me, as I've been thoroughly enjoying my time so far at the University of Guelph. I find learning about the body and how biological organisms interact together very intriguing and I'm super excited to start this course!
