Matthew Simmons
Founder in Frazier Park, CA, US
Based in Frazier Park, California, combat veteran Matthew “Matt” Simmons is the founder of Wolves and Warriors, a not-for-profit organization that employs retired United States military personnel to protect wolves from illegal poaching operations. In his role at the Frazier Park organization, Matthew “Matt” Simmons not only creates and manages all matters of program development, but also oversees the recruitment of veteran workers and provides assistance in areas of asset coordination, GPS tracking, and legal advocacy. He is also highly active when it comes to fundraising for the project, and serves as founder and director of the Predator Healing Project in Kalispell, Montana.
The wolf is a critical member of any ecosystem to which it is native. If wolves are illegally removed from a habitat via poaching, deer and elk populations explode, resulting in negative effects for a variety of plant and animal species, including humans. In just a year of operation, Matthew's Team has successfully protected more than 300 wolves. More information about the organization, including ways to support its mission, is available online at www.predatorhealingproject.org
