Matthew Smithis an OTC derivatives expert, working in asset management for BNP Paribas. He brought to this role over six years of experience in the financial services sector, working at JP Morgan from February 2008 until March 2014.

When he first began working for leading investment bank JP Morgan, Matthew Smithactually had a limited background in finance. He did have a BA in Business Studies with Tourism from Bournemouth University, along with a GNVQ Advanced qualification, 2 A-levels and 11 GCSEs. He was taken on as a Trade Capture Analyst in JP Morgan Bournemouth's Global Derivatives Services division, where he fast proved his ability to learn on the job. Within his fist year he had already become one of the most trusted members of the team. Matthew Smith was selected to move to Mumbai for two months within this first year, supporting training for a new department hub in India. He was later given the opportunity to make a move to London, using his acknowledged expertise in trade input systems to establish from scratch a new middle office team.

During his time at JP Morgan, Matthew Smith expanded his knowledge of systems and processes. He is proficient in the use of HiPortfolio, Microsoft Office, Calypso, HP Quality Centre, Summit and InvestOne. He also gained much experience in the introduction of new UAT / JUAT systems, having spent 20 months as the primary tester of these systems before making the move within JP Morgan from Bournemouth to London.
