Matthew Stensrud teaches kindergarten through fifth grade music at Annandale Terrace Elementary School in Fairfax County, Virginia. He received his Master of Music Education from George Mason University and Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He completed his Orff Schulwerk certification at the San Francisco International Orff Course, is certified in Responsive Classroom, and serves on the Board of the Middle Atlantic Chapter of the American Orff Schulwerk Association. He also serves as Chair of the Alexandria Commission for the Arts and is actively involved in local arts policy. He has written articles on the use of Responsive Classroom and Orff-Schulwerk in the elementary music classroom and frequently presents workshops to fellow teachers. He lives in the neighborhood of Del Ray, Alexandria with his husband, Michael.
