Over the course of his career, Matthew E. Syken has practiced corporate and securities law, with a focus on financial regulation and compliance. He is credentialed as an arbitrator with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and has overseen FINRA compliance for a number of multinational corporations. Formerly the general counsel for Qingdao World Trade Ltd.'s Wellcredit Corp., Mr. Syken oversaw all company legal matters, and he created financial services departments in both the U.S. and New Zealand. Matthew Syken now serves as the general counsel and chief legal officer of the U.S. division of France’s ParexGroup.

Matthew Syken has received a number of recognitions, including a recent nomination for the Orange County Business Journal's General Counsel of the Year Award. He also earned mention in Los Angeles Lawyer magazine for his service as a business and corporate attorney, and was similarly honored by the New York Law Journal in 2005. Shortly thereafter, the New York Times published a personal profile of him.

Matthew E. Syken has also taught at the Western State University College of Law, where he presented such courses as Corporate Risk Management and Regulatory Compliance. Simultaneously an instructor and lecturer at the University of California, Irvine, he taught about foreign direct investment as well as agency, partnership, and LLC law.
