Matthew Triggs Proskauer Rose
Before launching his career in the field of law, Matthew Triggs received a B.S. from the University of Florida in Gainesville in 1986. After completing his undergraduate studies, Triggs enrolled at the Emory University School of Law, where he earned his J.D. in 1990, served as a member of the Emory Law Journal during his final two years, and earned membership in the Order of the Coif, an honor society for graduates of American law schools.
Matt Triggs joined Proskauer in 1994. He is a Partner and head of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Department of its Florida office. Triggs represents clients in a wide variety of legal matters, ranging from probate and trust disputes to commercial foreclosures and FINRA arbitration. Triggs also possesses an extensive background in helping upper-level managers and directors defend cases involving alleged breaches of fiduciary duty and fraud, recently representing a prominent financial institution as it defeated a damages claim for over $100 million.
Outside of his work with Proskauer, Triggs assists a number of professional organizations in Florida. As a member of the Palm Beach County Bar Association, he co-authored the “Rules Corner” section of the organization’s bulletin, which includes valuable resources for legal professionals in the Palm Beach County area. Triggs also maintains a high level of involvement in The Florida Bar, serving as a member of the Probate Litigation Committee of the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Section. A firm supporter of pro bono work to help people in need of legal counsel, he is a member of the Proskauer Pro Bono Initiative Committee and the Board of the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County.
In addition to his admission to practice in Florida, Triggs is also admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Florida and U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.
