Mattia Toaldo
I am currently a stipendiary fellow at the Institute for the Study of the Americas of the University of London with a research project on "The US Foreign Policy Elite and the Transitions Towards Democracy in the Arab World".
I earned my Ph. D. in Diplomatic History from the Roma Tre Doctoral School of Political Science. I defended my dissertation about "Reagan's World War 4: A Case Study About Lebanon and Libya" in May 2008. Since then, I have been Post-Doctoral fellow at Roma 3 with a project on "the Reagan administration and nuclear proliferation in the Middle East" and then Post-Doctoral Fellow for the British School at Rome and the Society for Libyan Studies with a research project on "Italy's Post-Colonial Relationship with Qadhafi". At BSR I also dealt with the 2011 international intervention in Libya and the transition to democracy. In Rome I worked also a Lecturer of international relations and political science at IES (an American study abroad university) and as a Research fellow on the US and the Middle East at GEOPEC research centre. My new book on "The Origins of the US War on Terror" is just out.
