Matt Lambert
psychotherapist, Life Coach, and Photographer in England, United Kingdom
My name is Matt Lambert and I am an experienced integrative counsellor and psychotherapist based in Horsham with 19 years experience of working with adults, children and families.
I specialise in working with adults, children and carers with depression and help them to reconnect to themselves and the world around them. Depression can be complicated inasmuch as there is no one reason as to why someone might experience it and often it's not just depression it can be a whole host of other things which are ultimately linked to it and this could be self harm, gaming, isolation, hopelessness, fear, worry about the past or the future, addiction, loss/grief, feeling lost and that life has no meaning or uncertainty. Depression is a word that is frequently used in every day life and whilst there is a definition I believe that we can all experience depression in our own unique way and your depression may not feel like my depression but this doesn't make it any less valid. Addressing the depression that we feel can free us from persistent negativity, guilt and unhappiness.
I view people as being the best person to guide them in their lives in terms of making their own decisions and knowing what is best for them and I work alongside you to help you make sense of your reasons for accessing therapy. I am not there to give advice or to make decisions for you and counselling is a process that unfolds over time and I place great focus and emphasis on healing holistically which is a process that is unique to the individual.
My aim is to talk about you and to assist you on your healing journey in whatever form that takes. Our sessions will provide you with a safe place to heal, somewhere that you can rely on to provide you with the necessary support to help you make sense of your world, a calm space that is yours away from the chaos of life.
By accessing nature or moving our bodies we can open doors to then talk about what's bothering us, this can be self perpetuating as opening up can breed confidence and instil a positive sense of self worth which in turns assists us in opening up some more. This process is about starting to listen to that voice within that has been telling you to lose weight or leave your job or to start a hobby, the voice that is telling you that you could live a happier more meaningful life.
