Matt Malgari
Every day, countless children across the U.S. are bitten by the acting bug. A few decades ago, Matt Malgari was one of those children. He was cast in a community theater production and developed a love for acting and singing. The small role had a lasting impact on Matt, and shaped the course of his career from then on.
When it came time to enroll in high school, Matt Malgari landed a spot in his town's performing arts high school. He had to beg his parents to let him attend. They gave in and soon enough, Matt was studying vocal performance, dance and acting with some of the area's top talents. After high school, he did what many aspiring actors do, and headed to Manhattan. In New York City, Matt roomed with Simon, his close friend and acting buddy from high school. The two found work as waiters and spend their days bouncing from audition to audition.
Roles were few and far between at the beginning. Matt was thrilled when he was cast in a local commercial for a carpeting company. Eventually, destiny called, and Matt found an agent and was cast in a Broadway production. Several more soon followed, along with small roles on television shows and in movies. Although Matt Malgari was living every actor's dream, he wasn't sure if it was for him. The life of an actor, even a working actor, is grueling. Matt quickly tired of the constant auditioning and the uncertainty.
When he married his wife Julie, he decided it was time for a change. The two relocated to LA for Julie's new job and Matt discovered his next opportunity. He remembered the teachers who inspired and taught him as a teenager. He decided that was what he wanted to do, teach aspiring performers to succeed in the business.
Matt Malgari held his first vocal workshop in 2005 for a group of 10 students. Since then, he's held three workshops a week, along with coaching 30 students privately. His workshops are usually booked full within hours of being announced. Matt Malgari has found a career that is edifying and enjoyable.
