Matt’s first step in the business side of the music industry came in 1999 with the Warner Music Group. During 6 years in key commercial roles at both the International and UK companies of WMG, Matt executed the first mobile network operator / record label deal in the UK market and set in motion the companies focus on Wireless as a distribution platform. Working on a large number of online and wireless distribution partnerships (Napster, Vodafone, T-Mobile, Nokia), Matt was key in setting up digital business for WMG in UK and Europe culminating in spearheading the launch of iTunes in Europe on behalf of WMG.
After a couple of short-term roles at Homechoice (now Talk Talk) and Music Choice developing music VOD strategies Matt joined Virgin Media’s platform Content Acquisition team to be responsible for Sports, Music & International TV content and channels. Whilst there Matt set up Virgin’s Music Video On Demand product and managed key partnerships with the likes of Viacom and Setanta (executing a deal taking Premier League football back to non-premium TV customers for the first time in fifteen years).
Following Virgin Media, Matt moved to Channel 4 to lead content distribution as part of the Business Development team managing key commercial relations with TV and online distribution partners such as Virgin Media, BT, Tiscali/Talk Talk, MSN and YouTube. From Channel 4, Matt moved to become Commercial Director for the online TV service SeeSaw where he is responsible for all commercial aspects of the business including sales, content acquisition and business development activity.
After SeeSaw, Matt joined Global Radio as Enterprise Director overseeing non-core revenue management and diversification of their product portfolio including Global’s classical and compilation record label, gaming and print publishing business. Whilst there, Matt also brought back premium rate as a key revenue stream, implemented Global’s new CRM and customer data strategy and also set up their new TV business with the launch of Capital TV and Heart TV.
Matt joined Box TV, the UK’s most-watched music TV network in October 2013 as Managing Director. Box TV broadcasts seven inimitable music television channels from the UK's no.1 music TV channel 4Music, to The Box, Smash Hits, Kiss, heat, Magic and leading rock destination Kerrang! So far, in 2014, it has attracted a monthly average of 14.1m viewers. Matt was responsible for overseeing the laun
