7- step guide to cleaning your mattress at home
Your mattress is constantly exposed to a lot of external substances like sweat, mites, dust, dead skin, oils, and other bodily fluids and could be up for some cleaning. We know that purchasing a mattress doesn't come cheap and we often forget that it needs just as much care and cleaning as our bed sheets, though not as often. So to keep ourselves fit and sharp, mentally and physically, you can follow this 7 step guide to cleaning your mattress at home.
The first step is to remove the bedding from your mattress. The bedding can be removed by one of two ways:
Take note that it is easier to clean the mattress if you remove the bedding in this order: mattress pad, then sheets, then top pillow case.
The second step is to vacuum the mattress. You can use a manual vacuum cleaner or a vacuum cleaner with a hose attachment. You can also use a hand-held vacuum.
The third step is to use a damp cloth to wipe off dust and dirt. You can use warm water and soap to clean the mattress or use a damp cloth dipped in vinegar. This will remove dust and dirt from the mattress. Make sure that you do not leave any soapy or sticky residue behind after cleaning the mattress.
The fourth step is to use bed bug spray on the mattress. Spray some bed bug spray on the mattress and rub it around with your hands
The fifth step is to use anti-allergen spray on the mattress. Spray some anti-allergen spray on the mattress and rub it around with your hands. Let it sit for about 15 minutes, and then wipe it off with a damp cloth.
The sixth step is to use anti-microbial spray on the mattress. Spray some anti-microbial spray on the mattress and rub it around with your hands.
The seventh step is to let the mattress dry. Let the mattress air dry for at least 24 hours before putting your bedding back on the mattress.
Cleaning your mattress is not only a great way to keep it fresh and clean but also to extend its life and keep yourself healthy and illness free. These are all the steps that you need to follow when cleaning your mattress at home.
You might even experience sleeping problems like insomnia, headaches, body aches, etc., so remember to clean your mattress every once in a while!
