Matt Symes

Matt Symes is primarily responsible for engaging organizations in how they Design, Live and Tell their story. As Chief Executive Officer, he is charged with the same task internally at Symplicity Designs.

In 2013, Matt moved back to the East Coast to team up with his father, brother, and two other partners to start Symplicity Designs. Since then, Matt has had the good fortune of working with Large 100m plus organizations, SMEs, as well as Government and Non-Profit organizations. More recently, Matt’s work has been focused on Symplicity’s growing equity portfolio. Internally, he has helped guide one of Atlantic Canada’s fastest growing organizations with offices in Moncton and Halifax. The growth expanded to Tampa in late 2015. Also in 2015, Symplicity was named Atlantic Canada’s 9th Best Place to Work.

Symplicity is a proud member of the B-Corp community, 1% for the planet. In 2016, Matt was a founding board member (and Symplicity a Founding partner) of For the Region, a Not For Profit designed to galvanize Business around Big Bets on the most pressing societal issue in Atlantic Canada.

Matt has BA/BEd at the University of New Brunswick an an MA from Wilfrid Laurier University. He has spent time teaching English in South Korea and University history courses at WLU (in Canada and Europe).

He has run a Photography & Graphic Design business and toiled in the Not for Profit world, responsible as Publications Manager and Volunteers at the the Laurier Centre for Military, Strategic, and Disarmament Studies.
