Matt Thorpe is an actor and graduate of the American Musical & Dramatic Academy. He was born and raised in the small, Northern California town of Hollister, where he spent his adolescence performing in theatre, before relocating to Los Angeles, CA, upon acceptance into AMDA's conservatory program.
In high school he managed to pull off the paradoxical roles of jock and theatre geek. He played competitive water polo for four years at San Benito High School (the first team in the school's history to make it to CCS sectionals) and he acted in several of the school's stage productions. Matt went on to perform with the San Benito Stage Company in several productions and musicals, which include playing the starring roles in Grease (Danny Zuko) and Beauty & The Beast (The Beast/Prince). During the 2008 season he won the Company's award for Best Actor.
After high school, Matt continued his education at the American Musical & Dramatic Academy, studying Film Acting in Hollywood, CA. There he honed his skills as an actor, gaining the respect of his AMDA mentors and peers, not only for his talent but for his superior work ethic and upstanding character. Adding to his wheelhouse as an
actor, Matt attended the LA Fight Academy (LAFA) and studied under the direction of certified fight directors of the S.A.F.D., receiving high marks on his fight tests and in combat training, sword/shield, and rapier/dagger courses. He is prepared to become a full fledged super hero (or villain) someday... or at least play one one screen.
Upon graduating from AMDA, Matt signed with the BiCoastal Talent Agency and began working in film and television, booking roles in several independent and short films. He has also appeared on stage, in the well-received production of Moonchildren at the Lillian Theatre and
playing the infamous King of Bohemia in Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure at The Repertory East Playhouse.
