Maude Michaud

Maude Michaud is an award-winning writer-director from Montreal (Canada) who specializes in genre entertainment. Aptly described as representing the "horror of normality", her stories tread the fine line between the familiar and the uncanny while tackling raw universal themes.
Her body of work includes over a dozen critically acclaimed short films which have toured the international festival circuit, as well as a documentary web series about women horror filmmakers, which served as a basis for her Master’s thesis. Her debut feature film Dys- World Premiered in July 2014 at the Fantasia International Film Festival where it won the Audience Award for Best Canadian Feature and is currently distributed under the title At The Door by LevelFilm.
An avid cinephile since her childhood, she has been nurturing a passion for storytelling and aims to create stories that challenge genre boundaries and audience expectations. She strives to create compelling entertainment that will take audiences on a journey out of their comfort zone while getting them to experience different perspectives of the world.
In addition to filmmaking, Maude Michaud also loves to explore the storytelling potential of different mediums and nurtures a passion for photography and writing. Most of her published work as a writer is non-fiction/academic, but she is currently returning to her initial passion by trying her hand at fiction.
