Hi everyone! I'm Anna Mauldin and something interesting about me is that I used to dance. Yes, I realize this doesn't sound too cool at first, but what is unusual is that I started to dance when I was only two years old. I danced at a small studio that appeared from the outside to just be a small cabin in the woods. However, this place was so much more than that. I grew up in that building, gaining a small second family through my teachers and the students I was surrounded by. Twice a week I would spend a large portion of my evenings learning tap, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, or whatever other style my teacher decided she wanted to try out. I enjoyed each and every lesson. I found myself using this time to forget about whatever family issues or school work was looming over me, and to just relax and have fun. There was never any pressure on us dance students (we did not compete) so it really was a space for us to let loose. I loved my dance studio and the environment it provided, so I was obviously saddened to attend my final class as a senior in high school. Over the 16 years I spent in that small cabin in the woods, I found lifelong friends, mentors, and an outlet I truly enjoyed.
