LIFE Born in Buffalo, New York and raised all over the Mid-Hudson Valley, poet/writer/artist/energy healer/teacher Maura Alia Badji calls New Paltz, NY her hometown; she now lives & creates in Virginia Beach, VA with her son.

TEACHING: Maura teaches ESL online to students in China. She has also taught Special Education, poetry, and essential oils classes.

Her chapbook, Resculpting:poems (Paper Boat Press, 1995), is now out of print, but sometimes available online. Maura is a member of Liberated Muse Arts Group, and The Watering Hole, an online community dedicated to poets of color.

EDUCATION BA in Sociology/Social Services (SUNY New Paltz); MFA in Creative Writing (University of WA/Seattle); and MEd. in Migrant Special Education (SUNY New Paltz), for which she was awarded a full fellowship. TESOL (International Open Academy, 2018).

LIFELONG LEARNER: Maura has studied multi-media art with Effy Wild, Patient Advocacy at UCLA Empowered, Advanced Poetry with Jana Harris at UW Seattle Extension.
