Maureen Keating

Consultant and Marketer in San Francisco, California

Past: A passionate academic media theorist, I was striving to understand real-time cultural trends in film, television, literature and online media to determine their impact on society -- think McLuhan, Chomsky, Derrida, De Bord and Ronell. This rigorous cultural analysis of technology, imagery and text was an excellent basis for a career in marketing, and combines well with my curiosity, improvisational skills and empathy for others. I've built and marketed products for companies that you've heard of, like Apple, Adobe, Palm and Cisco, and many other start-ups that you probably haven't.

Present: Connecting people to experiences they will love is at the heart of what I do. My style is collaborative and focused on efficiently delivering impactful, revenue-generating messaging, collateral and programs to bring products to life. When I'm not working, I travel, discover local restaurants and food sources, watch films, enjoy art, hike and spend time with friends.

Future: CMO for a company that I love to work at that combines my talent and interests.

Curious about: Cybersecurity, DNA, genealogy, machine learning, robotics, 3D printing, fashion, forensic archaeology, cryptozoology, virtual reality and design thinking.

Knowledge areas: Product marketing and management, qualitative and quantitative analysis, business plan creation, budget development and management, cross-functional team leadership, agile and lean development processes, product roadmap and life cycle management, MRD/PRD development, strategic partnerships, messaging, go-to-market strategy and execution, demand generation programs, advertising and awareness campaigns, project and program management.
