Mauricio Kalukango holds the position of Equipment Service Associate at BMW Manufacturing USA, where he specializes in the industrial maintenance sector. With a robust background in servicing and optimizing electrical and electromechanical systems for major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), he is recognized for his technical prowess and dedication. Born to Angolan parents in Botswana, he moved to the United States in 1982, settling in Atlanta, GA. This move marked the beginning of his deep-seated interest in aviation, which led him to enroll in and complete an Aviation Maintenance course at Atlanta Technical College.

Mauricio’s early career in aviation maintenance encountered obstacles due to economic downturns following the 9/11 attacks and the housing market crash. Despite these challenges, he pivoted his career towards heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) technology. This strategic move expanded his skill set and opened doors to new opportunities in machine maintenance.

Mauricio has held significant technical roles at major corporations such as Caterpillar Inc. and Pumpingsol. In these roles, he was exposed to sophisticated industrial equipment designed for optimal performance in continuous, high-speed environments. His continued professional development in industrial automation and process equipment allowed him to stay ahead in the rapidly evolving technological landscape of manufacturing.

Mauricio was born in 1979 during the height of the civil war in Angola, which forced his family to relocate to a refugee camp in Botswana. Eventually, they migrated to the USA and established themselves in Atlanta, where his father, a skilled craftsman and construction foreman, emphasized the importance of hard work and family unity. Mauricio thrived in Atlanta, actively participating in community and school activities, which included playing soccer and serving in student government. His academic prowess was evident early on, and he graduated high school in 1997 as the Student Body President.
