Life (Poem)
It is Ironic, this thing called life
It takes sadness to know happiness
And noise to appreciate silence
It takes absence to value presence
And weakness to realize strength
It takes negligence to create values
And falling to appreciate rises
It takes losses to value findings
And mourning to know glories
It takes distraction to keep focus
And failure to build success
It takes cries to value smiles and laughter
And getting old to notice happy moments
It takes chaos to create discipline
And annoyance to generate patience
It takes breakdowns to value the self
And back stabbings to recognize personal space
It takes lies to appreciate honesty
And let downs to recognize loyalty
It takes bitterness to notice love
It needs to get stormy to value calm
Victories are measured
By the number of defeats
Without testing the bitter
You wouldn't know the sweet
It takes losing what you have
To recognize being in need
The more pieces you gather
The more you feel incomplete
It takes less to know more
And least to value most
It takes tight to feel loose
And distance to appreciate close
It takes narrow to recognize wide
And locks to appreciate keys
It takes fear to build courage
And difficulty to value ease
It takes wrong to create right
And dim to recognize bright
It takes darkness to know light
And blindness to value sight
It takes questions to get answers
And wandering for things to make sense
It takes cruelty to appreciate nice
And finally, death to value life
