Early on, we saw an opportunity to sell furniture in a smarter way. We felt that by creating a direct-to-consumer 'store' on the internet, we could offer consumers an outstanding selection impossible to duplicate in a local brick-and-mortar store. Along the way, we learned how to manage some of the difficult hurdles inherent in this type of business. Will the customer feel secure making a large purchase on the internet? How will the customer know they will like the furniture without being able to touch and feel it? How will we transport a large, fragile piece of furniture across the country? We view these hurdles as opportunities to do things better than our competition.
Another key thing we learned along the way is how to offer superior value. While much of our product is manufactured by renowned furniture makers, we also manufacture many of the pieces we sell. We enjoy total control over the quality, materials, design and packaging. While 'eliminating the middleman' allows us to offer value pricing on much of our furniture, we are convinced that if we produced inferior furniture for the marketplace we wouldn't be in business for very long. No, our furniture is some of the finest made – whether it's a solid kiln-dried 'Grade A' hardwood bathroom vanity, or a contemporary outdoor set with Sunbrella cushions. While for many, 'value' is a code word for low-quality, that's not who we are. At Max Furniture we have extremely high quality standards.
