I'm a PhD student in Political Science at Duke University working on a dissertation which discusses why states choose costly and destructive conflict rather than mutual beneficial non-violent solutions to thier disputes. In particular I focus on how peaceful crisis resolution becomes more difficult when there are more than two potential violent states interested in the outcome of the conflict.

My research also looks into how to measure state foreign policy preferences, networks and modeling network formation, bargaining models of war, predicting intrastate conflict and authoritarian stabiltiy.
