Maxinne Oandasan
Student, Musician, and Teacher in Sta. Mesa, Manila
Hello! I'm Maxinne Oandasan, a student from the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music, taking up Bachelor of Music Major in Vocal Performance. I'm also a member and scholar of the UST Coro Tomasino since 2022.
I am a singer and a musician who started gaining interest in writing my own songs during high school. At the most random times and places, I often start creating drafts for my own music, but I also do song covers for entertainment. Before I entered college, I originally planned to take up Music Theater to fulfill my love for broadway, especially singing the Disney songs. But due to some unforeseen circumstances, I took up Vocal Performance.
Years passed and I have seen so much improvement in my classical technique. All thanks to my professors and of course, my dedication to practice and vocalizations. I was able to adapt and apply my learnings from both informal and formal lessons from high school up to college. And even when the time comes when I finish my college education, I will make sure to be open to all new learning opportunities, as well as having a broad imagination to continue my love for singing, and to be able to share them to everyone.
As a formally-trained classical singer from the Conservatory, I want to continue being an advocate of healthy singing which caters genres such as choral, classical, and theatrical. I can also teach some basics during our lessons since I took up Piano as my Applied Minor course. But most importantly, my goal is to guide and help the development of my students in creating their own identity and craft. As a musician and teacher, that is one legacy that I would want to leave in this world - a world filled with music, where people continue to love and create more of them.
Just like the line that I always repeat to myself, “Living for the music!”
