Max Mollon (Ph.D.)
Design Fiction, Consulting, and research in Paris, France
Max Mollon holds a PhD in design sciences and media studies (PSL, Ensad) and is a designer and researcher renowned for practising and popularising speculative design in France since 2010 throughout the Design fiction club seminar (2017-2021). Winner of the 2020 Prize for the best thesis in foresight, he has developed numerous participatory mechanisms used by public, cultural and regional institutions to anticipate ecological crises — including Prisons at 50°C (Ministry of Justice), Forêts (dés)enchantées 2100 (WWF), Agoras Prospectives (ONDA), and Désirs d'habiter (Nantes–Saint-Nazaire metropolitan area). As co-founder of the Deviations Lab (Laboratoire des déviations), he designs innovative methods to strengthen cooperation as a means of transition within diverse communities. A lecturer at Sciences Po, he has been putting his rare expertise into practice for over ten years, focusing on debating the future, collective imaginaries and ways of building solidarity in the face of ecological transformations.
