Maxwell Gilliam

A native of Windsor, North Carolina, Maxwell Gilliam, DDS, has been general dentist and owner of Jacksonville, North Carolina-based Gilliam Dentistry since 1992. In preparation for his dental career, he attended the Howard University School of Dentistry and received his doctor of dental surgery in 1987. Before opening his own practice, Dr. Maxwell Gilliam worked with a mobile dental clinic providing care for the elderly. He also spent time with the dental division of the Johns Hopkins Health System, where he treated individuals with limited financial means.

When not occupied with treating patients and managing the business operations at his own office, Dr. Gilliam continues to participate in programs dedicated to bringing dental care to individuals in underserved communities. As a volunteer dentist with North Carolina Missions of Mercy, he offers free dental treatment to low-income patients. Dr. Maxwell Gilliam also volunteers with the mobile Medical/Dental Bus Ministry of North Carolina Baptist Men, through which he provides free treatments for the uninsured, elderly, homeless, and others in need in his community. Furthermore, he is a member of the City of Jacksonville Community Development Committee, the body that administers federal grant resources allocated to develop housing and economic opportunities for Jacksonville citizens with low to moderate income.
