PROFESSOR MAY NG, OBE

May Ng is Professor of Child Health at Edge Hill University, Hon Associate Professor at University of Liverpool, and Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist at Mersey West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. She completed her undergraduate degree under full scholarship in Sydney, Australia and undertook her paediatric training in Australia and in the United Kingdom. She was the recipient of the UK Medical Research Council Fellowship and completed further training to obtain a Masters and PhD degree in paediatric endocrinology. She holds a Master of Laws (LLM) and an MBA in Healthcare and Finance. She is President of the Association of Children’s Diabetes Clinicians UK, Chair of UK Diabetes Research Group for Children and Officer for British Society of Paediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes. She is also Chair of E-learning Committee for the European Society of Paediatric Endocrinology, and is on the Advisory Council for The International Society of Pediatric Adolescent Diabetes. She was the UK Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) College Training Advisor for Endocrinology and Diabetes and is the current RCPCH Research Officer.

In 2022, she was awarded an OBE title on the Platinum Jubilee Queen Elizabeth II Birthday Honours for Services to People with Diabetes and Services to People with Autism and Disabilities. She is a multi award-winning paediatrician and has produced over 200+ publications including 3 Cochrane reviews and has presented at more than 250+ scientific meetings. She is the Editor-in-Chief of Diabetes Care for Children & Young People, and serves on the Editorial Board for several journals. She is a regular reviewer for high impact journals eg BMJ, Lancet, JCEM.

Wife and mother to 3 beautiful kids, & a dog, she also owns a farm. She is an advocate for deaf awareness and autism awareness as a parent. She is author of 4 books-"A Journey With Brendan", a book documenting a 10 year account of life with autism as a mother and a paediatrician, “Autism Decoded”, "Me and My Hormones-What Can Go Wrong?" which is a comprehensive account of the underlying causes of hormone conditions that can affect all ages from birth to adulthood, and “A Guide to Type 1 Diabetes Management , Technology and Everything Else You Need To Know”.
