Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist and Honorary Associate Professor in the United Kingdom
Dr May Ng is Honorary Associate Professor, University of Liverpool, Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist and Associate Medical Director at Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust. She completed her undergraduate degree under full scholarship in Sydney, Australia and undertook her paediatric training in Australia and in the United Kingdom (UK). She was the recipient of the 2006 UK Medical Research Council Fellowship and completed further training to obtain a Masters and PhD degree in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes. She also holds a Master of Laws degree and is active in medicolegal work. She also has an MBA in Healthcare and Finance. She is Chair of the Association of Children’s Diabetes Clinicians in the UK, Chair of National InstituteHealth Research Clinical Research Network (NIHR CRN)/BSPED Clinical StudiesGroup (CSG) for Diabetes in Children andOfficer for British Society of Paediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes. She was awarded Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy in 2013 for her commitment to teaching, and is the UK Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) College Speciality Advisory Committee (CSAC) Training Advisor for Endocrinology and Diabetes.
Dr Ng is actively involved in the development of national paediatric training and policies in endocrine and diabetes and is a clinical leader of multiple national award-winning initiatives. She has held over £300,000 in research grants and is an active researcher in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes. She has produced a book chapter and over 130+ publications including 3 Cochrane reviews and has presented at more than 150+ scientific meetings. She is the Editor-in-Chief of Diabetes Care for Children & Young People, Associate Editor for Pediatric Sciences and Obesity and Diabetes International Journal , and serves on the Editorial Board for International Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, Journal of Pediatric Diseases, International Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health and Practical Diabetes.
Wife and mother to 3 beautiful kids, & a dog, owns a farm. She is an advocate for deaf awareness and autism awareness as a parent. She is author of "A Journey With Brendan" , a book documenting a 10 year account of life with autism as a mother and a paediatrician.
