Maya Adam MD
A lecturer in Stanford University’s Human Biology Program, Maya Adam MD provides instruction on topics such as child nutrition, childhood obesity, and critical issues in child health. Among a group of 14 Stanford faculty members to receive seed funding to teach massive open online courses, or MOOCs, Maya Adam MD develops courses to reach a broader student audience.
Dr. Adam completed a Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology at Stanford and her medical degree at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. During college, she spent several months working at Philani, a community health care center in Cape Town, South Africa.
Prior to pursuing her medical degree, Maya Adam MD spent almost a decade as a professional ballet dancer in Dresden, Germany, with the State Theatre of Saxony. Also an accomplished writer, she has had articles published in O, The Oprah Magazine; The Globe and Mail; and The Vancouver Sun.
