Maya FarrHenderson recently made history at America's #1 high school, the School for Talented and Gifted. She was the first student to be elected class president all four years since the school began in 1982. While serving as a representative for her classmates, she was also representing her school district as president of the Dallas ISD Teen School Board which includes the junior and senior class presidents of all 42 high schools in the district.

Starting in the Fall of 2016, Maya will be attending the College of William & Mary as a Gates Millennium Scholar. Maya was awarded the scholarship in the last year of its program and is one of 1,000 students out of 53,000 applicants to receive the honor. She plans to major in International Relations and Pre-Law with a minor in Public Health.

Maya is currently a social media consultant for MocaMedia and is interning for the second time at International public relations company, Weber Shandwick. She has also been an election clerk with Dallas County Elections Department since 2014.

Passionate about students and young people exercising their first amendment right to vote, Maya began the organization Modern VOX to encourage students to make informed and confident decisions when casting their vote. Maya is continuing this initiative with a research project to be published in two years time.

Maya aspires to make her career in either the Foreign Service or United Nations.
