Hi, I'm Maya. When I was four, I wrote my first poem, and I haven't looked back ever since. I love playing with words, using poetry to capture moments both brilliant and unremarkable.
At the age of 11, I published my first collection of poetry, Apologies to an Apple. Since then, my work has been featured in literary journals and anthologies, and I've traveled both locally and nationally to speak about my work and my story.
I also co-founded -- and currently am co-president of -- TEDxRedmond, a local, independently-organized TED-style event in my hometown of Redmond, Washington. Our event is organized entirely by, and targeted towards, youth, and has drawn over 700 attendees every year.
When I'm not writing or organizing events, I enjoy biking, designing visual media, singing, taking photos, and traveling. Learn more at www.mayaganesan.com.
