May has a Master of Science in Architectural Studies. She worked in commercial architecture for over 15 years. The major focus of her design work was large shopping centers in New York, Connecticut, Arizona, Nevada and Texas.
May began working within the educational environment in 1993 by teaching AutoCAD for the public school system in Phoenix Arizona. In 1999 she was hired by the Art Institute of Phoenix as the Academic Director in charge of starting up the Interior Design program for that school.
Later she became an Assistant Dean for AIPX. Then in 2004 May stepped down from all administrative duties in order to transfer into the AIP-Online Division Interior Design program as a full-time faculty member where she continues to work to date.
Along with teaching a variety of classes, throughout the years May has also written the online lectures and assignments for many of the Interior Design program courses. She has also been an instructor in Milan Italy for a Study Abroad program.
May's hobbies include running, reading, and shopping at junk stores to find eclectic items that can be transformed into art as shown in the clock display at the right.
