Mazen Asbahi

Dedicated to community organizing and political empowerment, Mazen Asbahi formerly acted as the National Coordinator of Muslim American and Arab American Outreach for President Barack Obama’s 2008 election campaign. In this capacity, Mazen Asbahi conducted numerous advocacy efforts, including maintaining close communications with prominent figures in these communities and guiding the campaign on issues of concern to American Muslims and Arab Americans. Since leaving the campaign, Mazen Asbahi remains dedicated to building bridges between people of various backgrounds. He sits on the board of Leadership Greater Chicago, an organization that connects and educates local leaders. Additionally, Mazen Asbahi remains a member of the Board of the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding, a think tank that generates new voices on matters including national security, economics, foreign policy, and public health. Additionally, Mazen Asbahi acts as the founder and principal of Asbahi Law Group, Ltd., a boutique firm established in 2009. As leader of the venture, Mazen Asbahi oversees the representation of an array of clients in issues that range from corporate law and heath care transactional matters to nonprofit governance. Mazen Asbahi draws from more than a decade of legal experience garnered at several recognized Chicago law firms including Schiff Hardin LLP; Goldberg, Kohn, Bell, Black, Rosenbloom & Moritz, Ltd.; and Kirkland & Ellis LLP. A prominent figure in the legal community, Mazen Asbahi maintains involvement with American Bar Association committees of Business Law, Health Law, and Nonprofit Law, as well as the American Health Lawyers Association. He holds a Juris Doctor from the Northwestern University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Michigan.
