Maya A. Beasley

Dr. Maya A. Beasley is the Co-Founder of the T10 Group, a diversity consulting firm, and an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Connecticut. She earned her A.B. from Harvard University and her Ph.D. in sociology from Stanford University. Her first book, Opting Out: Why America Is Losing Out On Its Young Black Elite, was published by the University of Chicago Press. She is currently finishing her second book, The Social Portfolio: Building Up and On The Capital of Minority and Female Professionals.
Dr. Beasley is also a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress and serves as the Research Director for The Diversity 360 Initiative, the foundation of which is an annual “State of Diversity in Technology Report.” As a result of her work on diversity issues, Dr. Beasley has provided guest blogs and interviews for a variety of outlets including The New York Times, Huffington Live, Diverse Issues in Higher Education, The Wall Street Journal, and USA Today and has been a featured speaker at a number of events including Catalyst and Platform.
