MBISAH EVELINE N. is a Cameroonian filmmaker, screenwriter, producer, and director based in Douala, Cameroon. She is the founder and creative director of MBISAH STUDIOS, a production company committed to developing original African stories and nurturing emerging creative talent.
With over a decade of professional experience in film and television production, Mbisah Eveline has worked across the full filmmaking process—from story development and scriptwriting to directing, production management, and post-production. Her work spans feature films, short films, series, documentaries, and theatre productions, reflecting a deep engagement with storytelling rooted in African realities.
She received formal training in filmmaking and scriptwriting from the Cultural and Artistic Development in Africa (CECADEV) in 2013 and holds a Bachelor’s degree from the National Polytechnic Bamenda, affiliated with the University of Buea. Her background as a screenwriter strongly informs her directorial approach, emphasizing character-driven narratives, emotional authenticity, and strong narrative structure.
Mbisah Eveline’s films often explore themes of identity, gender, power, ethics, spirituality, and social responsibility. She is particularly interested in stories that examine moral conflict and the lived experiences of women within complex social and cultural systems. Her storytelling combines realism with emotional depth, aiming to engage both African and international audiences.
Her screenplay “Trapped” was nominated for Best Screenplay at the Cameroon International Film Festival (CAMIFF) in 2019, while she was recognized as Best Scriptwriter by NACAM in 2014. In 2016, she was nominated in London as one of the best story “Counselors” for her work on Councilor, a feature film she also produced. She has since produced and directed several feature films, including “No Trace” (2020), “Beyond Oaths” (2021), “Bridal Bangle” (2021), and produce several short films from 2023-2024. Has worked as Assistant Director on projects such as “Beyond Tolerance” (2020), the German short film Prospective (2022).
In 2022, she became a Champion of the Kekere Storytellers Fund under Africa No Filter and was appointed Grand Ambassador of Rose Safari Hotel, Douala. In 2024, she was awarded Best Scriptwriter by Africa Knowledge Connect, further solidifying her reputation as a strong narrative voice in African cinema. In 2025, she produced multiple short films, including SHAM, ASSUME, UTTERANCE, DUPLICATE, SUBSIDY, CLEAVE, and IFFINESS.
Beyond filmmaking, Mbisah Eveline has worked as an event manager, creative writer, and consultant for production companies in Cameroon and Nigeria, including Rockmethods Communications and Mountain Villa Ventures. She has collaborated with numerous production houses and media companies, contributing to film, advertising, and artist development projects.
Through MBISAH STUDIOS, she is dedicated to mentoring young Cameroonian creatives, promoting cultural heritage, and building sustainable production practices within the African film industry. Her work reflects a commitment not only to cinematic excellence but also to cultural preservation, social impact, and international artistic exchange.
