Mike Bishop
Software Engineer, Architect, and Student in Nashville, TN
I am a computer scientist, systems architect, and human performance professional living near Nashville, TN. My interests range from RF communications and embedded systems development to AI/ML, nutrition, and fitness. I earned a B.S. in computer science in 2002 and an M.S. in Human Performance & Nutrition in 2020. While my pursuit of the M.S. was initially motivated by personal interests in fitness and nutrition, I've since developed an appreciation for several intersections between systems engineering, data analysis, and human performance. Accordingly, one of my companies is applying science-based approaches to maximizing the health and cognitive performance of our clients. By any measure, the results have been impressive. I hope never to stop learning and helping others by constructively apply knowledge to improve their lives.
In terms of research, I am interested in exploring nutrition's role in determining our immediate and long-term cognitive capacities and efficiencies. How and why does what we eat influence clarity of thought? How do sustained eating habits affect cognitive development and brain health over time? Do we have enough data concerning these two topics to train machine learning algorithms to predict cognitive abilities based on person's diet and genotype? Which neural network designs are most appropriate for such studies?
