Matthew Brown is the General Partner and Senior Executive Partner of Energent, L.P., and a Hawaii-based entrepreneur, drawing in part from generational wealth while building his own legacy through his venture arm, Matthew Brown Companies, in infrastructure, energy, and innovation. He briefly attended Texas Christian University (TCU).

Brown’s professional expertise spans private equity and venture capital with a global footprint. In private equity, his work includes worldwide shipping and logistics (rail and dry bulk), renewable energy (wind, solar, and renewable natural gas), and hospitality (golf courses, hotels, and resorts). In venture capital, he is active in medical devices, therapeutics, and life sciences, artificial intelligence and machine learning (where he has helped lead one of the largest VC syndicates in AI/ML/LLM investments), and space exploration and technology collaborations.

He is also a golf course, hotel, and energy developer, as well as a venture capitalist with a focus on initiatives aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Brown divides his time between Hawaii and California, often on the North Shore of Oahu.

In his free time, Matthew is a passionate supporter of the TCU Horned Frogs and Green Bay Packers. He enjoys surfing, skiing, snowboarding, solo climbing, open-water swimming, and traveling, having visited over 100 countries. A true student of life, he embraces diverse experiences.
