Daniel J. McCarthy (mccartichoke)
Writer, Chef, and Musician in Manhattan, New York
Always in the vanguard, I was hit hard by disasters -- personal and financial -- in 2005-6. They gave me several years in a wheelchair and time to write a book I recently completed, 'The Nirvana Chronicles,' for which I now seek a publisher. They also took my family and most of my friends and possessions; all but the memories from which I'm now rebuilding my life from scratch. Hard work freed me from that wheelchair and I can now walk just fine with a cane, that I expect not to hinder my golf game, and which artful defensive manipulation I've nearly perfected. (Literary critics, beware.) At various times in my life I've worked with Samuel Beckett and Carroll O'Connor, to name two of a long list of notables and extraordinary individuals whose company it's been my good fortune to share.
Writing, humor, golf, gardening, fly fishing & tying, good food and its careful preparation, travel, the ocean and everything in, on, and about it, history; the Civil War, understatement, and all things Japanese are turn-ons, as are petite women and sevruga caviar served on a raspberry-shaped erect nipple. I'm more a Leo than a Cancer, but, as a native Marylander, I have a fondness for crabs (Callinectes sapidus, not P. pubis).
