I am a student currently living in Durham, North Carolina. My interests range from arts to reading. I am also interested in animals, gaming, and snowboarding.

Being a North Carolina native for most of my life, I have lived from one end of the state to the other. I was born in Murphy, NC and moved around with my family to many places from Beaverton Michigan to Atlanta GA in the 31 years since. For the majority of that time I have lived in NC, and I have had residence across the whole state from Hayesville, NC all the way at the western tip, to a short stay in La Grange, NC before I settled in the Triangle. After spending a few years in Cary, NC I decided that I wanted to change my career path and peruse a degree in Nursing. After spending two years at Durham Tech to take care of the needed prerequisites for the nursing program I decided to try applying to a few of the great universities in the area. After moving to Durham I decided that NCCU would be a great choice since it has a reputable nursing program and the commute to classes would not be an issue since I live close by.

I have spent the past 6 years working with developmentally disabled adults at Residential Services Inc in Chapel Hill. The experiences I have gained in this job as I have moved up into supervisory responsibilities, in large, are what helped me into making the decision of going back to school and completing a nursing degree. I plan on continuing working with individuals with developmental disabilities in whatever capacity that I can as a nurse, since it has made such an impact on my life and how I now view health and people as a whole.
