Timothy McDonald
Modeling multi-physics effects in modern aerospace systems can be a daunting task. The work requires translating program requirements into actionable levels that are meaningful to design engineers and qualification teams.
For the past several years, I have been successful in bridging that divide as a consultant to DoD and NASA prime contractors. I have helped bring best-practices approaches to verification of complex air and space systems by performing verification by analysis supported by lower-level subsystem testing. This approach utilizes high-fidelity simulations of the craft in each environment of interest to generate actionable predictions. I have performed the final testing and am experienced in writing acceptable test plans.
In my work in simulating complex systems and obtaining qualification to system requirements, I have been successful in driving down program costs and meeting project objectives on schedule.
I am active in the technical community with recent high-impact publications that advance the field through the use of novel simulation and measurement techniques as well as developing nanomaterials for aerospace protection.
I have had success in capturing external funding from government and private sector customers.
