Jonathan McEuen, PhD MBA

Philadelphia, Pa Usa

Artist by training who became a neuroscientist to study stress, the brain, and the genetic/epigenetic pathways impactful in stress responsivity. I used electrophysiological tools, data analysis and model development to better understand signaling relevant to emotionality, behavior and homeostasis.

I also developed novel technology for modulating localized neuronal activity without invasive manipulation. This work grew into a biotech venture that used this technology to improve drug efficacy, specificity and safety.

On hiaitus from academic science, I worked as a strategy consultant in the life sciences. My goals were to positively influence other companies, help them innovate, and grow despite a constantly changing landscape. I applied quantitative methods and predictive statistics to many of these problems, learning how to translate stats form scientific study into value-add business applications.

I earned an MBA in healthcare management from the Wharton School. I focused on entrepreneurship and innovation in healthcare, but also on communication and presentation skills. It was an invaluable opportunity to work hard on developing my skills in software engineering and coding, with a focus on probabilistic statistics, data mining, and quantitative, consumer-focused marketing.

While at Wharton, I met colleagues like George and Raj, who teamed up with me to found new ventures in the heatlh IT industry. One company, SpeSo Health, is focused on helping patients with rare diseases find experts with experience in treating their unique cases. We provide information for patients for free, and help hospitals better understand and support their unique fingerprint of rare disease expertise.

I now reside in the greater Boston area, where I am a principal at Wembly Enterprises; an investment office which owns and operates specialty manufacturing companies. I focus on healthcare and consumer health products, operating in business development.
