Dr. John J. McGrath is a national leader in providing quality cost-effective higher education. He has created a professional career which has combined business savvy with a deep understanding of the needs of the modern student. He has been an extraordinarily successful entrepreneur in developing and executing highly creative business models within higher education.

Dr. John McGrath received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy (Summa Cum Laude) and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Long Island University in New York. He earned a Ph.D. (Highest Honors) from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences from Fordham University. John also engaged in postdoctoral work in Entrepreneurship at the University of Notre Dame. In addition, he was selected for and attended the Program for Experienced College Presidents offered by Graduate School of Education at Harvard University.

From 1980 through 1996, John McGrath served as a Professor in the Department of Law and Criminal Justice at Mercy College. His specialization is Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, Evidence and Jurisprudence. John has also been a Department Chairman, Campus Dean, and Assistant Vice President at Mercy College. As a senior executive, John opened more Extension Centers than any other college administrator in New York.

In 1996, Dr. McGrath co-founded Educational Video Conferencing, Inc. The company’s original mission was to videoconference undergraduate and graduate degree programs from multiple colleges and universities to large financial corporations. John negotiated and executed contracts with 20 colleges and universities -- including the University of Notre Dame, Saint John’s University, and Adelphi University -- which collectively provided access to approximately 250 degree programs. Dr. McGrath negotiated and executed contracts with over 15 major corporations, including Merrill Lynch, Citibank, American International Group, Travelers Insurance, and Zurich Insurance. EVCI became a public company that traded on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange and its shares rose from $12 to $40 within its first year. Throughout the company’s history, John McGrath raised over $120 million from public and private investors.
