Michael Coleman
Harrogate, Tennessee
Hello, my name is Michael Coleman and I am a certified K-6 educator with a special education endorsement. I was born in Middlesboro, Kentucky and raised in Harrogate, Tennessee. I graduated from Bell County High School in Pineville, Kentucky and then earned an undergraduate degree in Communication Arts from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee. At that time, I wanted to pursue a career as an actor. I spent two years working in the Lexington/Cincinnati market before I made the move to Los Angeles. In Los Angeles, I spent a year and a half training at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. As a graduate of the Academy, I worked as an actor until I received a sign that it was time to return home. I was to become a teacher.
I married my soul-mate JoAnn in late 2004 and became a father in late 2006. During this time, I worked as a finance manager. I worked at a small personal finance company for a short time. Then I moved into financing cars, thinking that my dream to become a teacher would not come true. However, I was determined to go into teaching. I decided that it was time and in 2009 I went back to school to earn a certification to teach. I started with K-6, but during my student teaching, I worked with a student that changed my direction and pointed me toward special education. I realized that I wanted a more specific speciality and in 2013, I earned my endorsement in special education.
I am a very creative and an out-of-the-box thinker that is open-minded and highly determined and motivated to succeed. I go beyond expectations and become a stronger man with every challenge I face. People say that I am a strong speaker as well as a caring listener. I believe anyone can beat the odds when they put their minds to it because I am living proof and I am looking forward for the opportunity to start the next chapter in my life.
