Maria Cuasay

Tech, Growth, and Marketing in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

I work in the growth team at Opencare, where we connect patients with health providers. I previously worked with the BDC IT Venture Fund, which invests in Canadian software companies at the Late Seed, Series A, and Series B stages.

I have been involved with a variety of charitable organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, Hostelling International, Gawad Kalinga, and Volunteer for the Visayans. I have guided backpackers around Vancouver, built houses in Manila's slums, re-built houses in Tacloban after Typhoon Haiyan (strongest typhoon to ever make landfall), taught English in Kunming and Lijiang, and served a small community in an island near Batam, Indonesia.

I graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2011. I'm now based in Toronto, but I previously lived in Vancouver, Tel Aviv, Singapore, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, and Hong Kong.

I play hockey 3-4 times a week. I'm interested to learn how to play the saxophone. My humour is sometimes painfully dry.
