Maria De los Angeles
Teacher, Writer, and journalist in Washington, DC
Welcome! So happy to see you!
I teach unlearning. What? I know. That's weird, right? But it's a really refreshing way of experiencing the world.
Unlearning involves contemplative, yoga-inspired practices that help kids and adults achieve full expression of serenity and joy in their lives. Together, we reshape narratives.
I happily co-create a customized practice with you, which can vary from home decluttering, help with writing assignments, yogic breathing for relaxation, restorative poses, to experiential retreats involving journaling, aromatherapy, happy movement for kids, and more.
My teaching is informed by my experience as caregiver to my elderly parents, with a dimension of presence that's often difficult to access in today's anxious, hectic world. I can also provide companion care for the elderly, respite care for caregivers and lend a compassionate ear over at LifeGuides.
I'm the founder of HeartCamp (a heart-centered wellness unconference) and co-founder of Blossom Camp: Live Happy from The Heart, a mindfulness camp for girls.
All these forms of "unlearning" are moveable, flexible and adaptable in the form of events, private sessions, group workshops and any number of experiential activities.
Please contact me to explore how we can co-create meaningful moments of support and education that bring beauty to your life. I'd love to meet you!
about me

journalism + writing
My writing and private teaching go hand-in-hand as lived experience through which I share a worldview based on peaceful, compassionate living.
As an independent journalist, I write about art, culture, spirituality, community, travel and more--in short, "good people doing good things," which is why I created #heartcenteredmedia to explore reading and writing as an intention that leads to a more heart connections in the world.
