Mario David González
Engineer in Madrid, España
I was born the 6th of September, 1988, in Madrid. I enlisted in the Spanish Armed Forces as a professional soldier at the tender age of 18, and I was posted to the Armored Infantry Brigade "Guadarrama XII" where I served for almost 7 years: first as a Tank Gunner and then as a Tank Driver. Throughout those years, I developed values like responsibility, commitment, respect or loyalty as well as leadership skills.
In 2015, I had the opportunity to undertake a 5-month internship at Gas Natural Fenosa collaborating in the Department of Market Intelligence. Because of that, I gained a panoramic view of the energy business.
Following that most rewarding of experiences, I worked, for 11 months, as an Energy Consultant Intern at Indra Sistemas, Spain’s leading consulting and technology multinational, where I learnt a lot about the business consulting applied to the energy sector.
Currently, I am working at OMIE as a Market Operator, belonging to the Department of Market Operations, where my main duty is the operation and coordination of the Day-Ahead Power Market for Spain and Portugal, integrated with the rest of European PX according to the procedures of the European project PCR (Price Coupling of Regions).
About my studies, I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Energy Engineering and I am about to obtain a Master's Degree in Energy Engineering focused on Energy Markets both from the UPM.
Furthermore, I am studying a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics through UNED to delve further into the economics in general, and into the energy economics in particular.
Thanks to my education and profesional experience, I have gained a powerful combination of science-based knowledge and applied engineering as well as hands-on approach to the energy business, which has provided me with a privileged overview to solve complex problems in different environments that require analytical thinking.
