I am Md Sakib Hasan Tumon, a Master of Engineering Science (Research) student at Monash University Malaysia (MUM), Selangor, Malaysia, where I am also engaged as a Research Assistant (RA) in the Department of Civil Engineering. My academic and research experience are strongly grounded in climate change, GCM climate models, hydrology, and environmental engineering, with a particular emphasis on climate-driven natural hazards and data-intensive modeling approaches.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT), Dhaka, Bangladesh. During and after my undergraduate studies, I actively pursued research opportunities, initially serving as a volunteer RA at IUBAT, and subsequently worked as an RA at the Institute of Water and Environment (IWE), Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET),Gazipur, Bangladesh.
My research interests lie in the integration of climate change, hydrology, and environmental engineering, with a strong focus on:
- Climate change impacts and climate model analysis
- Hydrological modeling, water resources, and Environmental Engineering
- Natural hazard analysis and mapping, particularly floods, droughts, landslides, and climate extremes
- Municipal Solid Waste Management (MSWM) system.
Furthermore, I have strong proficiency in GIS-based spatial analysis, climate and reanalysis datasets, and machine learning techniques applied to environmental and hydrological problems. I am particularly interested in leveraging data-driven and hybrid modeling approaches to improve the understanding, prediction, and management of climate-induced risks, especially in vulnerable regions.
