My full name is Henricus Antonius van Meegeren, better known as Han van Meegeren.
I am a Dutch painter and portraitist and I am considered to be one of the most ingenious art forgers of the 20th century. I became a national hero after World War II when it was revealed that I had sold a forged painting to Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. People think that I died on December 30, 1947. As we all know, what people think does not have to be true.
