Margaret Bouvier is the owner of Meg Bouvier Medical Writing. Dr. Bouvier obtained her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, while working with their renowned Parkinson’s disease research group. Dr. Bouvier would then go on to become an IRTA fellow at the National Institutes of Health where she performed genetic engineering of dopamine precursor cells for transplant therapies in Parkinson’s disease.

After her fellowship, Dr. Bouvier worked as a staff writer for Francis Collins at NHGRI, writing press, policy, and communications pieces for the Human Genome Project. Her unique perspective allows her to understand the research enterprise while also being steeped in the “culture” of the premiere biomedical research agency in the world. She has helped her clients capture over $200 million in federal funding.

Major recent grant wins include:

Seven-Year, Multi-Center Clinical Trial Award. Our clients, working at four participating medical centers, will participate in a highly prestigious, multidisciplinary clinical research consortium at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Their cooperative agreement award money will be used to conduct clinical trials to accelerate the discovery of treatments for critically ill patients. While the size of the award will depend on the clinical protocols chosen, a typical seven-year clinical trial award runs in the tens of millions of dollars. Dr. Bouvier Interviewed For The Journal Nature. Dr. Bouvier was interviewed on impact in grantwriting. The article includes comments from scientists and funding agency administrators from numerous scientific fields and countries. Dr. Bouvier was the only professional grantwriter to participate.
